Basho

This is an Earthenware form made on the potters wheel. If you are a potter, you may find this interesting....normally I use the sgraffito process in the Greenware stage, but with Basho I bisqued  the piece  first and then glazed the top portion and used iron oxide for the body.... and did a glaze firing ( making the iron oxide permanent).Then I used an engraving  needle and sand paper to delineate  the image of the famous Japanese  poet,whose "The long road to the deep North" I had just read.
The form is 10 inches tall and 5 inches wide.
